Talk about details - Our last trip also involved the arduous task of keeping on top of consistently changing COVID protocols. No worries, Julie ensured that someone was on the ground during all transfers to escort us through the process.
Julie has tailored three very different experiences for us across Africa – in Kenya, Rwanda/Zambia, and most recently in Tanzania. All were beyond amazing! It’s her curiosity paired with a love of Africa and people that make her such a tremendous travel planning partner.
Julie’s questions are her superpower. She wants to know you and understand the experience you want to have, and always starts the conversation by asking us what’s most important to us in terms of wildlife, lodging, meals, social activities, etc. We’ve even talked about the balance between tented camps and hot showers. Upon returning from each trip, Julie makes it a habit to debrief with us. She wants to know what we enjoyed about our trip and what could be enhanced if anything.
Over the years, she has become a dear friend because of who she is as a person. Anyone can schedule a trip, but Julie is dedicated to planning experiences in Africa. It’s why the details matter so much.

Our safari experience was a first for us, yet Julie personally guided us throughout the process to ensure we had the best experience. She prepared us for each step of our journey in terms of how things would go, what to wear, key items to bring, and even links to some items of suggestion. It was great to take off with confidence that we were prepared.
We were blown away by our first destination and told ourselves we were content even if the rest were not equal. Much to our surprise, each destination only got better. Along the way, guides and repeat Africa safari travelers inquired about our itinerary. As we shared our destination details, they each gleaned and said, “You have an amazing adventure planned.” It all really sank in as to how special of a trip we were on as we experienced each day.
Mid-way through our safari we had the pleasure of meeting a travel agent from Canada who has specialized in African safari for over 15 years and travels to Africa 5-6 times a year to stay up to date on all the latest and greatest Africa has to offer. Like others, she inquired about our itinerary and her response once we shared was, “WOW, your agent really knows what she is doing, that is exceptional, I’m impressed, I may actually steal that.”
Julie did not prepare us for the impact Africa would have on our lives. We went thinking the highlight would be the wildlife and landscape, but we quickly discovered the culture and people of Africa are equally compelling.
What we thought was a trip of a lifetime changed along our journey, yet we discovered a part of our hearts and the most joyous parts of our souls reside in Africa.

From start to finish, Julie made our first trip to Africa seamless and unforgettable.
Long before heading to Africa, Julie provided us with a comprehensive packing list and a detailed trip itinerary. She went above and beyond to make our trip memorable by booking activities such as a walking safari, a hot air balloon ride, gorilla trekking, and time with local Tanzanian communities.
The accommodations were incredibly hospitable ranging from a beautiful mountain top hotel in Volcanoes National Park to tents in the Serengeti. At each location, the staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and well fed. Julie even made sure to tell each lodge we were celebrating three birthdays, and we enjoyed a lot of singing and a lot of cake!
Each safari guide was experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate. Learning how the conservation efforts created a sustainable habitat for the wildlife added to the wonder of seeing so many diverse animals.
Throughout our trip Julie encouraged photo sharing and was on hand to answer any questions. Her expertise was invaluable and made our trip a huge success! We are grateful to have had this opportunity to visit both Rwanda and Tanzania and look forward to our next safari, with Julie in charge of planning, of course! Asante sana, Julie! Our safari was amazing!
My Mom, Dad and I saw all the rarest animals. We saw wild dogs, leopards, and lions. It was the best time of my life! There’s more to see than just lions too. You can see giraffe, zebra, antelope and so much more. Sometimes the wildlife is so close you can almost touch them. It was so much fun!
